What materials are the toys in the video made from?
The toys in the video are made from wood, with string and cloth as well.
What materials are toys today made from?
A lot of toys today are made from plastic, but we still use wood and cloth to make toys as well.
Tudor dolls
These dolls are called ‘stump dolls’ – they are made from wood and would be made by hand.
Children would ‘practice’ for adult life by playing pretend with their dolls – caring for them, and making them clothes like the ones these dolls are wearing.
Who do you think would play with dolls in Tudor times – boys or girls?
Toys with moving parts
This toy is called an ‘egg mill’ – the blades at the top move when the string is pulled.
This toy is a spinning top – it moves when it is spun by hand very past and then it spins on it’s own.
