What is different between this and a normal cup?

Why do you think it was made this way?

An Unusual Invention

In the Victorian era, it was fashionable for men to have very elaborate moustaches. Moustache cups were believed to have been invented in the 1870s by a man named Harvey Adams to make drinking tea easier for men with moustaches. The semi-circular ledge inside the cup would hold the moustache back, allowing the man to drink without the tea touching his moustache which may have had styling wax or dye on it.
